Planned Giving

Look forward to the future.

The Pontefract Society honors those alumni, parents, grandparents, and friends who have provided for Pomfret through bequests in their estate plans or are participants in one or more of the life income programs the school offers. With a planned giving strategy, you can ensure a lasting legacy by putting your assets to work for Pomfret.

Because planned giving can be confusing for even the most savvy philanthropist, we will work with you in partnership with your financial advisor to maximize your impact without sacrifice. Below are just a few of the ways you can make a difference with a planned gift.

SAMPLE BEQUEST LANGUAGE

You should consult your attorney about the legal requirements in your state

"I hereby give, devise, and bequeath to Pomfret School, located in Pomfret, Connecticut (the sum of ___$) or (___ percent of my estate) or (specific items of property) or (the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate). This gift may be used to further the educational objectives of Pomfret School in such a manner as the Trustees of the School may direct." You may also adjust the language to designate your gift to a particular initiative or department, for example student scholarship or faculty professional development.

I support Pomfret School because it was my home of nearly forty years and has provided benefits too numerous to name. In the grand scheme of things, my contribution has been small in scale, but I continue to give year-after-year to confirm to myself and to the School that these experiences matter.
