Roadmap to Reopening

We have a choice. We can make Pomfret’s 127th year about the setback or the comeback.

Back in early May, Head of School Tim Richards convened the OpenPomfret Task Force, a group of more than forty employees organized around four working groups, each led by a member of our senior leadership team. For the last six weeks, this task force has been hard at work, meeting multiple times each week, to prepare campus for a safe and successful reopening this fall. Today, Pomfret is pleased to share the fruits of their labor.

In this report, A Roadmap to Reopening, you will find a newly revised general overview of the academic calendar for the fall term, an outline of our health and safety protocols for when campus reopens, a description of our on-campus and distance learning program options, our vision for athletics, information on tuition refunds and refund insurance, and more. This report is by no means the last word, but it does provide an open and honest accounting of what you can expect when school opens in September.

"We have a choice," says Head of School Tim Richards. "We can make Pomfret’s 127th year about the setback or the comeback. I, for one, am choosing the comeback."

The author Joshua J. Marine once wrote, “Challenges are what make life interesting, and overcoming them is what makes life meaningful.” This year, more than any other year, we ask for your support and your partnership as we move forward together through this unprecedented period in the life of our school and our world.

The challenge is real, but so too is the opportunity to make something meaningful from it. "We have a choice," says Head of School Tim Richards. "We can make Pomfret’s 127th year about the setback or the comeback. I, for one, am choosing the comeback."
