Our New Strategic Plan

Equipping our students to thrive in a changing world.

Pomfret School is pleased to announce the launch of our new strategic plan, Change Makers and Problem Solvers, designed to equip our students with the skills, knowledge, character, and confidence they need to thrive in a changing world.

Created by faculty, administrators, and trustees over two years, this plan will allow us to look deeply and critically at the problems and opportunities facing our world — and to meet those challenges head-on as a school.

Over the next five years, Pomfret will focus on twelve specific goals organized around three unique initiatives:

  • Integrated Educational Model
Bringing an already visionary program into even sharper focus.
  • Community and Belonging
Creating a place where students truly belong.
  • Stewardship and Sustainability
Ensuring the School stands the test of time.

In addition, Change Makers and Problems Solvers also contains a new mission, a new vision, and a new portrait of the graduate. These declarations, along with our core values, form the backbone of our School's identity and are guiding lights behind every important decision we make.

Of course, it will require more than lofty rhetoric to move this plan forward. It will take real work. Already, implementation teams are forming to identify and implement the specific action steps necessary to operationalize our goals and make them a reality.

United by common purpose, we are well-positioned to deliver on the promise and potential of this new strategic plan, and we look forward to sharing the fruits of that labor with you in the years to come.

"Too often, the problems we face can feel intractable, the magnitude of the change overwhelming. But I have always been, and always will be, an optimist. I take as an article of faith that one small school really can make a difference."

Tim Richards, Head of School
