How do I use Pomfret’s Athletic Facilities?
The School’s athletic facilities are available for use by employees and their families according to the policies established by the athletic department. The Director of Athletics and Afternoon Programs communicates specific access policies before each major break. Making facilities available to the community at large is a top priority, but such access must be curtailed at times when the building is closed or when adequate supervision is not available. Employee children below high school age may not use any facility without parental supervision. Due to the limited number of lockers in the faculty locker rooms, the first priority for locker assignments is given to active coaches. Preference is given to student-athletes and school-sponsored events during the academic year.
If an employee or family member is bringing a group of individuals who are not associated with Pomfret School, prior approval for the use of a facility must be obtained. The employee and/or family member is responsible for the conduct and safety of their guests, facility cleanliness, and proper use and return of equipment.
Fitness Center
The School offers free use of the Fitness Center inside the Corzine Athletic Center. The center is not staffed. Access can be obtained by your Pomfret Card. Family members not affiliated with Pomfret School must provide a signed waiver from a medical professional, available through the business office.
Wrestling Room and Basketball, Squash, and Tennis Courts
The School offers all employees free use of basketball, squash, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, and the wrestling room. Preference is given to student-athletes and tennis club members.
Jahn Ice Rink
The Jahn Ice Rink is open from November to March. Employees and their families may skate during regularly scheduled “free skate” times. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Campus Fields
Use of all campus fields, whether artificial turf or natural grass, for organized team practices, camps, or competitions must be scheduled through the Manager of Events.
