Wellbeing Institute

Making wellbeing a vital element of school life.

THE MISSION OF MANY INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS across the globe is to reach and teach the whole student and to cultivate learning and growth in mind, body, and spirit. The emergence of wellbeing as a vital element in education allows our schools to become even truer forms of what we say we are. Pomfret School offers one model of how to realize this through the creation of a Wellbeing department in our academic program. We've also developed an integrated curriculum, including a student-led social-emotional learning program called QUEST. Just as our schools have made thinking more visible in the classroom during the last decade, we have begun the journey to make wellbeing even more visible throughout all facets of school life. Come and join us for this unique four-day experience of enrichment, inspiration, collaborative planning, and rejuvenation as we work to make wellbeing a central and sustainable component of our schools.

Monday, June 17 – Thursday, June 20, 2024
Pomfret School | Pomfret, CT

Set on a stunning hilltop in rural Northeastern Connecticut, Pomfret has been called one of the most beautiful schools in the world. Studded by maples and ringed by stone walls, our 500-acre Hilltop campus exudes New England charm. As a guest of the Grauer Institute, you will be housed in a private room overlooking the heart of campus. A commuter option, which offers a cost reduction of $250, is also available. Rooms are single occupancy with access to a shared bathroom. Double-occupancy rooms are available upon request. All linens are provided. Both the dorm and commuter options include all your meals. In addition, you'll have access to the school’s fitness center, wooded trail system, yoga studio, tennis center, and squash courts. Your registration fee also includes complimentary airport transfers to and from PVD, BDL, and BOS. It's a pretty good deal!

Monday

Gathering around the Why

Why is wellbeing critical at this moment in our students’ lives and what’s at stake when we don’t make wellbeing a core component of our growth both for individuals and school communities?

Wednesday

Considering the How

How do we make wellbeing even more visible in our respective school communities? How do we get buy-in from key stakeholders and who can be resources in creating wellbeing pathways in our own schools? How do we create alignment across mission, vision, and program?

Tuesday

Imagining the What

What does wellbeing look like in our school communities now? And what could it look like when we make it an institutional priority? What are the essential skills, habits and practices needed for our students to flourish?

Thursday

Creating a Framework

Through collaboration and sharing evidence-based tools and  resources, attendees will come away with a framework for how to design and implement an integrated and intentional wellbeing curriculum   within their own school communities.
