Taught exclusively in Spanish, the honors section builds upon previously learned material and provides an accelerated approach to mastering the four linguistic skills of reading, writing, speaking, and listening. The honors-level student is expected to possess excellent communication skills and study habits and should feel comfortable participating frequently during class discussions. Students will continue to strengthen their command of the present and preterite tenses and start to work on the imperfect, the subjunctive mood, commands, the future, the conditional, and all “perfect” tenses. Vocabulary and all other lessons are presented in a cultural context, which enables students to learn more about the Spanish-speaking world and to understand its complex cultural relationships.
