This course offers students a deeper exploration of yoga as both a physical and spiritual practice, grounded in ancient texts and philosophy. Students will study portions of the foundational, sacred texts, such as the Bhagavad Gita and the Yoga Sutras, to explore the philosophy behind the physical practices of yoga, including its postures, breathwork, habits, and behaviors. Emphasis will be placed on the Eight Limbs of Yoga, using them as a framework to connect movement, ethics, concentration, and self-discovery. Through physical practice and classroom discussion, students will explore how these teachings can inspire more intentional, compassionate living. Journaling and reflective assignments will routinely be part of this class, in addition to the physical practice in class.
