This course introduces students to a wide variety of indigenous and multicultural dance/movement practices, across time and from around the world. Through readings, screenings, research, writing, and hands-on movement practice, students will discover the ways in which humanity across the globe is linked through dance practice. Areas of focus may include West African dance, Chinese tai chi, classical Indian dance, Andalusian flamenco, Brazilian capoeira, Chinese traditional dance, American step and rhythm styles, and Latin American social dances. This course earns a credit in Art and History & Social Sciences.
