ADV 2D Game Design

This advanced-level course is designed for students who have successfully completed 2D Game Design and are ready to deepen their expertise in game development. Building on prior knowledge, students will further develop their skills in Game Maker, with an emphasis on refining complex coding techniques, designing immersive narratives, and creating cohesive visual aesthetics. The course will introduce advanced principles of game pre-production, including storyboarding, user experience design, and level balancing. Throughout the semester, students will work both independently and collaboratively on a capstone project—an original, fully-playable 2D game. The course will culminate in a public exhibition, where students will present and demo their games for the school community, showcasing their technical proficiency, storytelling abilities, and creative vision. Departmental approval is required for this course.
