As a child of Pomfret and eventually as a varsity captain of the hockey team, Doug spent countless hours on the ice. Doug passed away in 1999, and several years later his twin brother Steve Woodruff '77 started the Doug Woodruff '77 Memorial Hockey Game so friends and family, teammates and coaches, and alumni and parents could gather to remember Doug in the place where his passion for hockey began.

Eighteen years later we're still lacing up our skates and playing for Doug! Many hockey enthusiasts return year after year, and new younger players join us on the ice with fresh enthusiasm and a love for the game. Please register now as a player, goalie, or spectator. A casual luncheon in Parsons Lodge with comfort food and beer will follow the game. Your $25 registration supports athletic programs through the Pomfret Fund.
