Pomfret once again named among the top 5 percent of private high schools.

For the seventh consecutive year, Pomfret ranks among the top 5 percent of nearly 5,000 private high schools in the United States, according to Niche’s annual ratings. “Receiving an A+ overall grade yet again reflects our commitment to excellence,” said Dean of Enrollment Management Susan Mantilla-Goin. “Pomfret embraces a human-centered approach to education, and our expert faculty foster a community that pushes students to think critically, make meaningful connections, and develop habits of well-being that serve them in high school, college, and beyond.”

Pomfret consistently receives top marks in academics.

In addition to earning an overall grade of A+, Pomfret consistently receives top marks in academics and college preparation — a strength highlighted by alumni. “The academic challenge, the readiness for college and culture that Pomfret embodied served to make my four years there wonderful and personally enriching,” one Pomfret alum wrote on Niche. Another added, “The teachers truly care and go above and beyond to prepare you for college and life after Pomfret. Choosing Pomfret was the best decision I could have made. I left feeling confident, supported, and ready for whatever came next.”

While college preparation is essential, Pomfret’s mission is to empower students to pursue lives of meaning and purpose through exploration and discovery. “Pomfret gave me incredible leadership opportunities, like becoming a team captain, starting a new club, and acting as a lead tour guide, which helped me grow so much as a person,” said an alum in a Niche review.

Many alumni and Niche reviewers describe their time at Pomfret as transformative. “You can come in as an athlete and leave an artist (or vice versa). Pomfret challenges its students to take advantage of all opportunities and stretch themselves while they're on campus,” said an alum. “The most important thing to know about Pomfret is that the faculty and administration strive to ensure that every student maximizes their potential.” Through a challenging, interdisciplinary curriculum, Pomfret inspires students to explore subjects that excite them.

Parents echo these sentiments, noting how Pomfret shapes their children into confident, balanced, and thoughtful young adults. “We’ve watched our son become more confident, thoughtful, and mature, all while being surrounded by peers who are motivated and kind,” said a parent reviewer. “Pomfret offers a culture that strikes a thoughtful balance across academics, athletics, and social pursuits. Faculty really care and are connected to the students in and out of the classroom.”

Another parent, whose son transferred from another private high school, shared, “Every day, we are impressed as we discover more about the school. We are more than confident about our decision to choose Pomfret.”

While this recognition affirms Pomfret’s excellence, our purpose goes beyond rankings. At Pomfret, students are inspired to think deeply, live courageously, and discover their purpose — in college and in life.
