It has been several months since Heather Daly was named Pomfret’s thirteenth head of school. When she accepted the position back in October, she shared that one of her first and most important goals was to “engage as deeply as possible with as many people as possible” before she arrives in July.

To begin, Heather has been meeting regularly with outgoing Head of School Tim Richards, outgoing Board Chair Justin Klein ’65, and incoming Board Chair Daryle Bost ’89. Heather has also met with Director of the Grauer Institute Gwyneth Connell to discuss academics and Dean of Enrollment Management Susan Mantilla-Goin to discuss admissions.

In addition, Heather has been attending Pomfret’s Leadership Circle. The Leadership Circle is a group of senior administrators who meet monthly with Dr. Kristin Hoins, an expert in organizational psychology who helps school administrators cultivate cultures of belonging, collective resilience, and mission-based alignment. According to Heather, the conversations have been wide-ranging, refreshingly honest, and immensely gratifying.

On Wednesday, March 26, and Thursday, March 27, Heather will be on campus. This visit represents a wonderful opportunity for her to meet and mingle with students, faculty, and staff in a relaxed, informal environment. In May, Heather will be back on campus for the Colhoun Conference, a gathering of boarding school heads and their board chairs. She also plans to attend Reunion in June.

Please remember that although Heather is quickly becoming a fully fledged member of the Pomfret community, she does not officially take the reins until July 1.
