For generations, Reunion has been one of Pomfret’s most meaningful traditions: a chance to return to the Hilltop, reconnect with classmates, revisit familiar places, and celebrate the relationships that continue to define the Pomfret Experience long after graduation.

So earlier this year we asked ourselves an important question: How can we make Reunion even more meaningful, more vibrant, and more rewarding for the alumni who return to campus? 

After careful study and following many insightful conversations with members of the alumni community, the Alumni Association Executive Council (AAEC), and the Board of Trustees, Pomfret is pleased to announce a new and improved Reunion experience.

Under this new model, every Pomfret alumnus and alumna will be invited back for Reunion every five years. Our next Reunion will take place in 2029 — scheduled to coincide with the School’s 135th Anniversary — followed by celebrations in 2034, 2039, 2044, and beyond.

By bringing more alumni back to campus at the same time, we believe we can create a Reunion experience with greater energy, stronger attendance, richer programming, and more opportunities for connection across classes and generations.

This new model builds on what we learned from the School’s 125th Anniversary celebration in 2019, which many alumni continue to remember as one of the most spirited and successful gatherings in recent Pomfret history. 

A key benefit of this approach is the opportunity to strengthen “shoulder year” connections. Many Pomfret alumni remain close not only with classmates, but also with students who graduated just before or after them. A bigger Reunion every five years will allow us to lean more fully into that strength.

In the years between Reunion celebrations, Pomfret will continue to create meaningful opportunities for alumni to stay connected. The Pomfret vs. Millbrook Day, in particular, will serve as an important touchpoint: a chance for alumni to cheer on the Griffins, engage with current students, and experience the energy of Pomfret today. You can also expect to see more regional events like Pomfret Around the World popping up in a city near you.

We know this is a significant change to a beloved tradition. We also believe it is an opportunity to elevate that tradition, making Reunion feel bigger, more joyful, and more reflective of the lifelong community Pomfret alumni share.

We are grateful for the generations of alumni who have made Reunion such an important part of Pomfret’s story, and we look forward to celebrating with you again in 2029 as we launch this next chapter together.
