Specializing in high quality care for the whole athlete. Our sports medicine team is committed to keeping student-athletes safe, along with helping the return to play following any injury. Our athletic trainers examine, diagnose, and treat the injured player, in conjunction with the school health center and school physician.

We maintain the highest standards of professionalism and help our student-athletes compete with confidence. We adhere to the National Athletic Trainer’s Association (NATA) guidelines: Athletic trainers are highly qualified, multi-skilled health care professionals who render service or treatment, under the direction of or in collaboration with a physician, in accordance with their education, training, and the state's statutes, rules, and regulations.

Pomfret School has a great partnership in place with UCONN Institute of Sports Medicine to treat athletes with any orthopedic needs, along with Physical Therapy. Team Doctors Dr. Cory Edgar and and Dr. Zachary Maass, offers consistent communication with our athletic training department in the treatment of orthopedic injuries. In the event of severe injury, the school is fortunate to have Day Kimball Hospital located just down the road. The ultimate goal of the athletic training program is to return student-athletes to full athletic participation and continued athletic success.
