COACHES

  • Colin Sullivan
    Head Coach
Colin Sullivan joined Pomfret in 2025 as the Director of Athletics and Afternoon Programs, bringing with him a distinguished career spanning both the preparatory and collegiate athletic landscapes. A seasoned leader in athletic administration, Colin is well-versed in strategic planning and program evaluation, with a strong track record of aligning athletics with admissions to attract student-athletes who excel in the classroom, in the community, and in competition.
Before arriving at Pomfret, Colin served as Director of Athletics and Physical Education at Trinity Preparatory School in Winter Park, Florida. From 2015 to 2023, he was the Deputy Director of Athletics at Brown University, and prior to that, he spent seven years as Athletic Director at Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island. His career in athletics began at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York, where he spent over a decade in various administrative roles, ultimately serving as Senior Associate Athletics Director.
Outside of work, Colin enjoys running and supporting his two daughters, Molly and Rory, both collegiate student-athletes. He lives on campus with his wife, Stephanie, and their two dogs, Arthur and Stella.
  • Sydney Stith
    Assistant Coach
Originally from Montvale, New Jersey, Sydney came to Pomfret after attending Towson University in the Baltimore area. At Towson she studied History and played Division 1 Track and Field. She has always loved history and playing sports so by joining Pomfret she was given the opportunity to do both. Something she hopes to accomplish specifically at Pomfret is encouraging kids to be their very best self. She has an EXTRA large German Shepherd who sadly won’t be staying on the Hilltop with her but will visit often. While she is quite experienced with track she also played Volleyball and Basketball in high school competitively. With that background she was prompted to coach all three of those sports happily. Some of Sydney’s other interest besides sports, are music, movies, trivia, and cooking.
  • Maxwell Alphonso
Max Alphonso (he/him) is a Science Intern at Pomfret for the 2025-26 school year. He graduated from Colgate University with a double major BA in Computer Science and Educational Studies. He will be teaching a regular Chemistry course as well as co-teaching a Forensic Science course and an Advanced Biology course. Although he teaches science, his interests also lie in music, the arts, and performance. Fun fact: He can play 3 instruments at the same time while singing.

  • Kathryn Fontaine
    Assistant Coach
Katie Fontaine joined Pomfret in January 2025 as a Ceramics teacher, bringing with her a diverse background in art and design. Prior to teaching, she worked as the Gallery Director at a collectible design gallery in New York City. A graduate of Marianapolis Preparatory School, Pomfret’s neighboring school, Katie went on to study Marketing and Design at Northeastern University. A lifelong artist, she has served as an assistant to a renowned ceramic installation artist based in Portland, Maine, and continues to maintain her own studio practice. Katie is passionate about showing students that creativity can be a meaningful and lasting part of their lives, regardless of their career path. Outside the classroom, she enjoys painting, skiing the East, and going for walks with her family’s dog, Jojo.
