Marcela GaitánHead CoachMo Gaitán arrived on the Hilltop in 2022 as the Director of Athletics and Afternoon Programs. She represents Pomfret on the NEPSAC Board, as District IV Vice President.
Prior to Pomfret School, Gaitán spent four years as head girls’ lacrosse coach at The Hill School in Pennsylvania. She earned a promotion to assistant director of athletics and co-curricular activities before serving as the associate director of athletics in her final two years.
In addition, Gaitán has been involved with Colombia Lacrosse since its inception, 2014. Her roles have spanned a 2x player on the Women's National Team, U19 Coach, and US Liaison. Growing the sport in non-traditional areas has been a common theme in her background.Gaitán was the first-ever head women’s lacrosse coach at Concordia St. Paul, a NCAA Division II school in Minnesota, and led the first scholarship-offering NCAA lacrosse program in Minnesota. She piloted the Golden Bears to an 8-8 record during the team’s inaugural season and guided Concordia to seven victories in the program’s first season in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Gaitán instructed a trio of players to Second-Team All-GLIAC accolades during the Golden Bears’ first year in the league.
In addition to launching the Golden Bears’ program, Gaitán was an assistant coach at NCAA Division III Augsburg University, Minnesota’s first NCAA lacrosse program.
Gaitán spent 2011-12 as the youth program coordinator with the National Lacrosse League’s Minnesota Swarm. She went on to become the owner and director of operations with Lakeshore Lacrosse. Gaitán received her bachelor’s degree in recreation and sports management at St. Cloud State in 2012 before completing a master’s degree in leadership from Augsburg in 2019. While earning her Masters in Leadership, it paved inroads for broader opportunities to develop character across a variety of sports. Gaitán is passionate about sharing these experiences with all our athletic and afternoon programs.
While not serving our students, Mo enjoys traveling, wheeling in her Wrangler, and cheering on the Minnesota Vikings! -
