PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The Pomfret Field Hockey program has a long-standing record of achievement, with many players advancing to compete at the NCAA Division I, II, and III levels. Alumni have continued their field hockey careers at schools including Boston College, Centre College, College of Wooster, Hamilton College, Kenyon College, Middlebury College, Stonehill College, Wesleyan University, and Wheaton College. We seek outstanding individuals who will contribute to all aspects of Pomfret life, are passionate about field hockey, and have the talent and character to thrive at the prep school level and beyond.
The Pomfret campus boasts two turf fields and a robust junior varsity program to support the development of our athletes. As a member of NEPSAC Class C & District 4, Pomfret competes against league opponents such as Canterbury, Deerfield, Ethel Walker, Frederick Gunn, Greens Farms Academy, Hopkins, Kingswood Oxford, Millbrook, Miss Porter’s, Suffield, Westminster, Wilbraham & Monson, and Williston.

COACHES

Louisa Jones
Head CoachLouisa has worked at Pomfret since 1994 in several roles from advancement to student-centered work. She has been involved in education for over forty-five years at St. Paul's School (NH), Cushing Academy (MA), The Asheville School (NC), Assumption University (MA), Fay School (MA), and Touchstone Community School (MA). After graduating from Bancroft School in Worcester, MA, Louisa earned a B.S. from Ripon College (WI) where she lettered in four sports. Since her arrival on the Hilltop, she has coached a variety of sports and currently coaches field hockey, squash, and lacrosse. Louisa has two children, Xander '04, who is the Dean of Students at St. George's School (RI), and Eliza, who is a childcare specialist. Her husband, Jeremiah (faculty member 1994 - 2003), passed away in 2025. Louisa lives on campus. -
