PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The Girls Varsity Basketball program has a proud tradition of success, highlighted by the Class B New England Championship in 2018. Our student-athletes have gone on to compete at schools including Yale, Xavier, Franklin & Marshall, Mount St. Mary’s, St. Michaels, and Roanoke. The program prioritizes character development through both individual effort and team achievement. Players receive support in honing their skills as they pursue collegiate opportunities, while also being challenged off the court to become student leaders and active community members. The coaching staff seeks passionate, coachable basketball players — prospective leaders and academically driven young women — who are eager to contribute to the Girls Varsity Basketball program.

Jay Osbey
Head CoachOriginally from Cleveland, Ohio, Jay graduated from Nichols College. He brings over 4 years of experience working in independent schools, including serving as a Middle School Dean of Students. This work has given him a deep understanding of student development and school culture. He is passionate about supporting students as both athletes and students.In addition to his experience in independent schools, Jay has spent over 10 years helping women's basketball players achieve their goals, both on and off the court. Throughout his career, he has coached at every level of the game, from grassroots programs to the professional ranks, giving him a broad and versatile perspective on player development.At Pomfret, Jay serves as Assistant Director of Admissions, Head Coach of the girls varsity basketball team, and dorm parent. He lives on campus with his wife and four children and is excited to be part of the Pomfret community.
