For generations Pomfret has been committed to enrolling the most outstanding applicants, regardless of their ability to pay. Through our commitment to affordability, we offer institutional grants, flexible payment plans, and parent loans to help families get the most from their investment. This year, we awarded $5 million in need-based financial aid to 37 percent of the student body.

Financial Aid

Pomfret’s Financial Aid program is designed to make a Pomfret education possible for all families based on demonstrated financial need and the availability of funds.

Tuition assistance is available to families that demonstrate a need for support by completing a financial aid application. When you submit your admission application, be sure to indicate that you will be applying for financial aid.

The deadline for completing the financial aid application, including relevant supplemental documents, is February 1 for New Families and December 15 for Returning Families.

How to Apply

Pomfret uses a nationally standardized system for financial aid offered by a platform called Clarity.

The Clarity Application determines a family’s level of financial need based on the information that families share in the application, which includes assets, income, expenses, and debts. The application typically takes less than 30 minutes to complete and there is a $60 fee to submit. Pomfret requires you to upload additional tax documentation, including your 2022 W-2 and 1040 after completing the application.

Payment Plans

In addition to financial aid, Pomfret offers several other kinds of financial support.

Pomfret School has partnered with FACTS Management for the collection of all tuition and fee billing payments. Payment options available include recurring automatic withdrawal through checking, savings, or credit card.

Merit Scholarships

We want outstanding scholars and citizens at Pomfret School.

Given annually, Merit scholarships are awarded to applicants with proven potential to make a substantial contribution to the school through academic excellence, leadership in curricular and co-curricular activities, and service to the Pomfret community.
