After completing the inquiry form, contact the Admission Office by phone at (860) 963-6120 or by email at email@example.com to book a Zoom interview with an admission officer. Interviews last approximately one hour. This includes time to complete the interview, answer questions, and engage with parent-guardians, if available.
Complete the application.
Pomfret uses the Standard Application Online (SAO) for all candidates. Applications are due by January 15. An application includes the following components: applicant information, application fee ($60 for domestic applicants; $125 for international applicants), student essays, parent questionnaire, current and prior year transcripts, recommendations (current math teacher, English teacher, and school official), and graded writing sample.
We've Gone Test Optional
We recognize that standardized test scores may not fully reflect your academic journey or potential. As a result, beginning with the 2020-21 admissions season, Pomfret School will no longer require applicants to submit an SSAT, PSAT, SAT, or ACT score report as part of their application.
If you are interested in submitting a standardized test score, we will accept the SSAT for students entering 9th or 10th grade, and the PSAT, SAT, or ACT for students entering the 11th, 12th, or postgraduate grades.
For students whose first language is not English, an English proficiency exam is still required.
The application process is the same for both international and domestic students. However, students whose first language is not English are expected to take the TOEFL exam. For applicants residing in and attending school in locations where test centers are currently closed, Pomfret will accept the IELTS Indicator, Duo Lingo (DET), TOEFL IBT Special Home Edition and TOEFL ITP Plus Vericant until regular testing resumes. Pomfret’s TOEFL test code is 8141. We do not accept TOEFL Junior to meet testing requirements.
International applicants attending school in China, Hong Kong, or Taiwan are required to complete an in-person or remote interview with Vericant. In some instances, the Vericant interview may serve as the only interview for an applicant's file.
