Making well-being a vital element of school life.
The mission of many independent schools across the globe is to reach and teach the whole student and to cultivate learning and growth in mind, body, and spirit. The emergence of well-being as a vital element in education allows our schools to become even truer forms of what we say we are.
Pomfret School offers one model of how to realize this through the creation of a Well-being department and the development of an integrated curriculum woven throughout school life. Just as our schools have made thinking more visible in the classroom during the last decade, we have begun the journey to make well-being even more visible throughout all facets of school life. Come and join us for this unique four-day experience of enrichment, inspiration, collaborative planning, and rejuvenation as we embark on this journey to make well-being a central component within the lives of our schools.
Monday, June 19 – Thursday, June 22, 2023
Pomfret School | Pomfret, CT
$2,500 with dorm lodging | $2,300 lodging not included
Gathering around the Why
Why is well-being critical at this moment in our lives, and what toll has Covid taken on our school communities? What’s at stake if we don’t make well-being a core component of our individual lives and in the shared lives of our schools?
Considering the How
How do we make well-being even more visible in our respective school communities? How do we get buy-in from key stakeholders and who can be resources in creating well-being pathways in our own schools? How do we create alignment across mission, vision, and program?
Imagining the What
What might well-being look like in our school communities? What are the essential well-being skills for students and faculty? What are the core components of successful programs already happening in our schools?
Creating a Framework
Collaborating with other practitioners and using the valuable resources within our schools, attendees will come away with a framework for how to make this happen within their own school communities.
Set on a stunning hilltop in rural Northeastern Connecticut.
For those choosing the dorm lodging option, your home away from home will be the house dorms located on the east side of campus. During your stay, you'll have access to the school’s fitness center, wooded trail system, tennis and squash courts, and yoga studio.
All conference faculty and staff will be fully vaccinated, and all conference participants are required to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
Given the rapidly evolving nature of the pandemic, specific protocols will be communicated in late spring based on State of Connecticut requirements and Pomfret School health and safety policies.
