QUEST

The beginning of a journey that never ends.

Born from a handful of simple questions, QUEST is the cornerstone of our student life curriculum. An important compliment to classroom learning, this signature program equips our students with the skills, values, perspectives, and habits of mind they need to survive and thrive in a world that is always changing.

QUEST focuses on four pillars: character and community, communicating beyond the hilltop, social justice and diversity, and health and wellness. Students meet regularly by grade level for workshop presentations, speakers, and group discussions. The QUEST program also incorporates time for college counseling with a series of presentations and exercises that prepare students for the college application process. This signature program that complements classroom learning is an important piece of Pomfret’s approach to educating students in mind, body, and spirit.

Character and Community

The first pillar, Character and Community, will encourage you to cultivate core values that will sustain you as an adult by identifying attributes and skills that reveal your core values and potential to engage, problem-solve, and relate. Through intentional, age-appropriate programming, this pillar cultivates these traits and provides opportunities for practice and feedback, project planning and implementation, all while thinking about the Pomfret School community and service beyond self.

Communicating Beyond the Hilltop

The second pillar in the student life curriculum, Communicating Beyond The Hilltop, will introduce you to the breadth and depth of opportunities available during your Pomfret experience and to the infinite possibilities open to you following graduation. Increased self-awareness is at the core of the pillar’s mission, whether it be creating a dynamic elevator speech, exploring wide-ranging career fields, or shaping your legacy. Our faculty team brings energy and a wide range of experience to the important work of maximizing life after Pomfret.

Social Justice and Diversity

The third pillar, Social Justice and Diversity, will challenge you to act with a greater sense of awareness and empathy toward others. Topics include race, gender and sexuality, religion, ageism, ableism, classism, and elitism, among others.

Health and Wellness

The fourth pillar, Health and Wellness, will aid you in the pursuit of a balanced life with a focus on the interdependence of mind, body, and spirit. Working in this pillar, you'll create individualized, holistic strategies to help combat the epidemic levels of stress, anxiety, and depression so prevalent among teens and young adults. Topics include physical and mental health, drug use and abuse, nutrition, body image, and consent, among others.
