The Centennial Academic & Arts Center (CAAC) is home to fourteen academic classrooms, a small auditorium that doubles as a black box theater, and two expansive art studios: a sculpture and ceramics studio and the iconic Cole Studio.

Academic Centers
With its bright and inviting space, the du Pont Library inspires students to explore and grow through its rich resources. The first floor houses the Technology Department and Digital Arts Lab, equipped with some of the most powerful computers on campus. The second floor is home to our Collaborative Learning Center (CLC), which leverages advanced technology and provides private rooms for one-on-one tutoring.
The Helios Greenhouse is a passive solar aquaponics greenhouse built and managed by students. It serves to inspire and engage the next generation of environmentally literate and socially aware scientists and engineers.
The Olmsted Observatory provides Pomfret students with an opportunity to engage in professional-level astronomical imaging typically found only at major universities. On a clear night, the Celestron 14 telescope reveals up to 380 million stars, while a super-cooled CCD camera captures images that rival those of top astrophotographers.
Our modern classrooms feature sleek, modular furniture, allowing teachers and students to rearrange them to suit their needs in real time. Writable desks allow for easy collaboration, and short throw projectors can turn any surface into a computer.
Our dance studio is a place for students to explore movement through rhythmic and musical accompaniment; practice jazz, ballet, and modern technique; and create original work.
Opened in 2024, the incredible 22,000 square-foot Venue for Innovation, Science, Technology, and Academics features new classrooms and learning commons, state-of-the-art lab spaces, and a central gathering point called the Hub.

As a Pomfret history teacher, I guide my students to see history as a tapestry of diverse narratives rather than a single story. I encourage them to approach historical sources with curiosity, empathy, and thoughtful interpretation. These principles also shape how I connect with my students, each a unique and complex individual, deserving of the same sensitivity and depth of understanding that we apply to the study of history itself."

I came to Pomfret for the observatory, but I stayed for the students and community! In the Science Department, we aim to give students unique and mind-opening experiences in VISTA — our incredible new science center, the hundreds of acres of woods and streams surrounding our campus, our aquaponics greenhouse, and under the stars in our observatory. Students can choose unique courses of study, and our wide range of pathway options give students great control over their exploration of the universe and the world around us. I love teaching science at Pomfret because our teachers are empowered to share their great passion for discovery directly with students every single day."

Teaching at Pomfret allows me to share my passion for my language, my culture, my country, and my city with amazing students from all over the country and the world."

I always tell my students, if you ever have to solve for x in your career, please let me know. No one has ever come back and done that. I know they will have had to think logically and follow steps to proceed through a problem. It’s why I love to teach coding in math class; it is such a logical way of teaching.”
