Assistant Athletic Trainer

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

Pomfret School seeks a highly motivated individual to be part of an exciting athletic office and school community. Under the supervision of the Head Athletic Trainer, the Assistant Athletic Trainer will ensure that all students participate in athletics in a safe and healthy manner while providing proper preventative and post injury counseling and/or treatment, and medical coverage for games and practices.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Prevent, Prevent, evaluate, treat and rehabilitate athletic injuries
  • Maintain an organized a clean and safe environment in the athletic training room
  • Be present for all home practices, games (on site or neutral), and events
  • Be on call during the winter season until end of the last practice (typically 10:00 p.m.)
  • Coordinate appointments with physical therapists
  • Communicate effectively with health center and school doctor
  • Maintain proper medical records (daily sign-in, injury reports, OTC log)
  • Assist Athletic Director with the payment of game officials
  • Evaluate faculty member injuries and when necessary refer to physician.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director and Head Athletic Trainer
  • Possibly contribute to the advising and residential life programs
  • Pursue continuous professional growth and development
  • Attend faculty meetings, school meetings, chapel services, and other required school functions, when necessary

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES MIGHT POSSIBLY INCLUDE:

  • Serve as a faculty advisor to a small group of students
  • Live in a dormitory and/or participating in the residential life program, which includes a rotation of weeknight and weekend responsibilities
  • Participate in the School’s student life program, QUEST

Academic Registrar

Job Purpose
The Academic Registrar is the official, authorized administrator of the School’s student and course database, collaborating with department chairs and the academic administration to build the academic schedule, manage enrollments, and coordinate registration in each academic term.


Essential Functions & Duties
  • Design and implement the academic schedule for students and faculty; including, work with Department Chairs on NCAA course compliance, student placement, sectioning and programming academic spaces
  • Work with Director of Studies to manage student course registration and enrollment, including to create online forms, process enrollment information, and serve as a key contact during summer months for transitioning and returning families
  • Verify and process new and graduating student accounts
  • Maintain the academic section of the school website
  • Maintain accurate academic records within the School’s information systems, including courses, sections, schedules, grades, awards, and prerequisites.
  • Serve as official NCAA contact for course approval
  • Guide departments and teaching faculty to create appropriate course titles for transcript and NCAA purposes
  • Work with the Director of Studies to develop, communicate, and adhere to the academic calendar
  • Maintain integrity of academic records, ensuring that student records are in compliance with school policy, federal and state law, and accreditation requirements
  • Process grades, comments, and official transcripts
  • Determine student graduation eligibility
  • Prepare data for honors lists, GPA, class rank, and awards
  • Update College Counseling database: upload and maintain test scores and GPA
  • Generate requested statistical analyses about the academic program
  • Manage SEVIS database including to initiate, update, and terminate I-20’s
  • Produce working papers for Pomfret Students

A/V Technology Specialist

Job Purpose

The A/V Technology Specialist serves two important roles for the School. (S)he is the primary technician for all events requiring audio-visual/technology systems and serves as a secondary support specialist within the technology office. This is a part -time (15 hour), non-benefits eligible non-exempt position.


Essential Functions & Duties
  • Support general event technology needs by planning with event organizers and ensuring appropriate a/v equipment is set up and ready for use, including troubleshooting audio, lighting, and video issues during the event.
  • Attend weekly campus event meetings and provide support for appropriate technology resources required.
  • Proactively identify campus technology improvements and work in the Technology Office to develop, propose and recommend solutions on how to improve current systems and processes.
  • Inventory and maintain A/V equipment. Advise technology leadership when replacement equipment is needed.
  • Serve as A/V support for theater events as the backup to the Theater Director.
  • Assist with education and training as needed when employees need assistance with A/V.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position, Education/Certification and Software Requirements
  • Experience with A/V technology, specifically audio, video, and lighting systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting abilities, and excellent verbal and written communication skills with a dedication to follow-through

Groundskeeper

Job Purpose

Works alone or as a team member to maintain the aesthetic appeal and health of the Pomfret School landscape and ensures that grounds are safe for the campus community. Requires a thorough knowledge of landscape maintenance and knowledge of minor grounds equipment maintenance

This position has the potential to be combined with Athletic Grounds. Weekend Hours and Zamboni training would be required.


Essential Responsibilities & Duties
  • Completes assigned daily zone maintenance per the Lead Groundskeeper
  • Completes work orders within the assigned timeframe. Follows up with the supervisor as to the completion or non-completion of these tasks. Fills out proper work records to reflect time and materials to complete work so it can be logged in the work management program.
  • Completes seasonal grounds maintenance work including snow and ice removal, planting bed maintenance, tree and shrub care, spring clean-up and fall leaf clean-up
  • Executes daily, preventative maintenance operations on all assigned vehicles and equipment in accordance with manufacturer recommendations
  • Wears all required safety equipment when conducting work. Operates equipment and vehicles within manufacturer specified limits and intended use
  • Provides assistance to other department trades group members as needed in the completion of work tasks, provides appropriate support in major events such as commencement and opening of school, participates in snow removal activities as needed to maintain campus operations.
Position, Education/Certification and Software Requirements
  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent technical school certification.
  • Must hold and maintain a valid unrestricted U.S. driver’s License.
  • OSHA Certification preferred

  • Minimum Level of Experience Required

    Minimum of 1-3 years landscape maintenance.

    Maintenance Mechanic

    Job Purpose

    The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the overall performance and compliance of all facilities’ heating and cooling systems. This full-time staff position reports to the operations manager in the Facilities Department.


    Essential Functions
    • Install, maintain and repair plumbing and mechanical equipment such as pipes, fittings, valves, fixtures, water heating equipment, pumps and controllers – cut, thread, bend and join piping
    • Maintain, repair, and replace heating and cooling ventilation equipment/systems.
    • Install, maintain and repair steam heating equipment and devices such as traps, regulators, motorized valves, strainers, pipes and fittings
    • Install, maintain and repair forced hot water heating equipment and devices such as pumps, valves and controls heated by gas or oil
    • Operate building automation systems such as Powers, Johnson, Andover and Honeywell for heating, cooling and ventilation.
    • Consult with outside vendors to assure systems are in working order.
    • Maintain, repair and replace sewer pumps and controls
    • Maintain compliance with operating guidelines, state and local building codes, and other government regulations.
    • Provide mechanical training to facilities personnel on a weekly basis
    • May be asked to sit on School Safety Committee
    • Must adhere to all School policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook
    • Continually meet or exceed Pomfret School’s Standards of Behavior, Character, and Engagement
    • Perform other duties as assigned
    • Position, Education/Certification, and Software Requirements:

    • 4-6 years of related mechanical experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Knowledge of fittings, tools, testing devices, reading, and interpreting blueprints and working drawings
    • Knowledge of building sprinklers, irrigation, and backflow compliance. Ability to work with outside contractors on such systems.
    • Knowledge of electrical controls, wiring, and devices for the operation of plumbing, heating, and mechanical equipment

    Driver

    Pomfret is looking for a driver “as needed” to take students to and from medical appointments. Must be flexible and available from Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during the academic year. School vehicle provided for the appointments. Must hold a Connecticut driver’s license and currently have or be able to obtain a Public Passenger Endorsement A. Will be subject to pre-employment and random drug testing per Connecticut state law.
